Abstract
Economic development, societal wellbeing and governance are all significantly impacted by Public Institutions. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Nigeria Public Institutions was investigated in this study, with an emphasis on how it improves performance and facilitates effective service delivery. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) served as the foundation for the research which revealed that AI technologies continue to play a vital role in enhancing policy making procedures, encouraging accountability and guaranteeing increased efficiency in public institutions. This study adopted a descriptive research design and data was collected from secondary sources of which findings revealed that there were major factors militating against AI application in public institutions in Nigeria. Inadequate infrastructure, bureaucratic processes, poor availability of data and ethical issues were identified as major challenges hindering AI integration in organisations. The study therefore recommended measures such as increased budgetary provision, introduction of favorable policies and regulatory frameworks that promote AI utilization, provision of robust digital training skills for public servants amongst others. These strategies were considered vital for effective application of AI systems towards the attainment of improved performance and efficient service delivery of public institutions in Nigeria.
